Albrighton Bowling Club Code of Conduct

Club Statement

Albrighton Bowling Club is committed to promoting clean sport, fair play, integrity and the wellbeing of all participants. We expect every member to compete honestly and always uphold the reputation of the Club.

1. Respect & Behaviour

·   Treat all members, players, officials, volunteers and visitors with courtesy and dignity.

·   No abusive, threatening, intimidating or discriminatory behaviour.

·   No swearing or inappropriate shouting on or around the green.

·   Accept officials’ decisions without dissent.

·   Promote a positive, welcoming environment at all times.

2. Player Responsibilities

·   Know and follow the Laws of the Sport and club rules.

·   Arrive on time; inform captains or organisers if delayed.

·   Play in a sportsmanlike manner — win with grace, lose with dignity.

·   Keep the green safe: no glass, no alcohol on the playing surface.

·   Avoid cheating, gamesmanship or unsporting conduct.

3. Officials

·   Apply rules fairly and consistently.

·   Maintain authority of the role.

·   Treat all participants with respect.

·   Support enjoyment and good order during play.

4. Supporters & Guests

·   Encourage fair play and positive behaviour.

·   No abuse, intimidation or interference with play.

·   Respect officials’ decisions.

·   Guests are the responsibility of the member who brings them.

5. Social Media

·   No online abuse, criticism or harassment.

·   No discriminatory or threatening posts.

·   Represent the club and the sport positively.

6. Safeguarding & Welfare

·   Everyone has the right to a safe, inclusive environment.

·   Report concerns promptly to club officials.

·   Zero tolerance for bullying, harassment or discrimination.

7. Drugs in Sport & Anti-Doping

• The club supports clean sport and fair competition.

• We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards the possession, use, supply, distribution, or promotion of illegal or recreational drugs at any Club activity or premises.

• Members competing in events governed by recognised bowling authorities must comply with any applicable anti-doping regulations.

• The use of prohibited performance-enhancing substances is not permitted.

• Members prescribed medication should ensure they understand any relevant anti-doping requirements before competing.

• Any member found to have breached applicable anti-doping regulations may be subject to disciplinary action by both the governing body and the club.

• Members should seek guidance from competition organisers or governing bodies if unsure whether a medication or substance is permitted.

8. Non‑Compliance & Sanctions

Breaches may result in:

·   Verbal or written warnings

·   Match sanctions

·   Suspension

·   Referral under governing body disciplinary procedures

·  Serious or repeated incidents may affect club membership.
