Albrighton BC have been selected to host the Mid-Shrop Bowling League Individual Merit prelims on Friday 2 May commencing at 18:30hrs. Of the 88 bowlers who have entered the competition, the Club will host 23 competitors who will play down to the last 4 players who will then go forward to the finals later on Saturday 21st May at a neutral venue yet to be decided. Club member Adrian Owens will be representing the Club at Wrockwardine Wood and we wish him all the luck in progressing to the finals.

Albrighton Sports Complex are now in full planning mode for the Summer Fair on 8 June 2025. This event is used to raise funds for the upkeep of the Complex facilities which in turn keeps down the price of our clubs affiliation fees. As a Club we are again being asked to asist on the day, anyone making themselves available to help with for this fund raising event can you please let Steve Wall know your availability, so your details can be passed onto the Complex Secretary who will then include you into any of the pre event meetings.
Revised rules from the BCGBA revision meeting held in January are summerised below.
• The National Development Strategy was approved with an overwhelming majority. This will see the introduction of a £1 per player, per Club 'Annual Development Fee' being introduced. This money, which will be ringfenced, will go directly to expenditure highlighted within the BCGBA National Development Strategy, to support grassroots Clubs to grow and develop. The 'Annual Development Fee' will be for a minimum of 3 years, and will be reported on annually.
• Clarification within the Laws of the Sport that any bowl travelling over a footer must be returned.
• Introduction of a maximum weight of a bowl. This has been set at 3lb.
• Clarification within the Laws of the Sport that a disturbed bowl should be treated the same as a disturbed jack (as per existing law).
• Nicotine inhalers have been added to the list of devices that cannot be used on the green during play (unless there is a medical exemption).
• Clarification that players will not be allowed to play in bare or stocking feet.

A home and away fixture against Pavillion Club, Wolverhampton has been arranged. The away leg will take place on Monday 24th March commencing at 6:00pm. The Home leg will be on Friday 28th March also commencing at 6:00pm. MSBL Team captain Steve Wall stated that last years innugural pre-season freindly proved valuable in the 2024 season where the A Team gained promotyion to the MSBL division 2 by a single point. The team will be announced closer to the fixture date, but it is hoped to include as many players as possible.
At the Highley League AGM the club was accepted back into the league for the 2025 season. For the club this is a return to the league after a 6 year break. Albrighton last played in this league pre -Covid in 2019 and we warmly accpeted back by League Secretary Lesley Burnside. The club will be playing in Division 2 of the League and will host 4 new bowlers within the team who have recently joined the Club. As The 2025 season commences in April it was apparent that new team places needed to be found for the increased number of players joining the club. Team captain of the Telford Ladies League applied and was accpeted to add another team for the Monday afternoon League. Steve Wall the Clubs Player Secretary also appied to the Highley League to see if they would accpeted our return after a 6 year abscence. This would give the Club an extra 12 team places to accomodate the increased numbers within the club to meet the expanding membership.
